Supporting Local Communities Through Our Partners - Paya
One of my favorite home decor shops in Bangkok, Thailand is Paya located in Thonglor. I can easily spend several hours selecting textiles, baskets, pillows, rugs, furniture, or just browse and share design ideas with Pree, one of the two daughters who manages this beautiful family-owned business.
If you love handmade furniture with ethnic touches and modern Thai designs, this shop is definitely worth a visit. It’s filled with home decor products that have been produced by their community of artisans from across northern Thailand. The owners have spent decades developing and working with local artisans to train, refine, and modernize skills such as weaving, dyeing, textile design, upholstery, and so on. The owners travel regularly to local villages to teach color and pattern mixing, for example, to ensure old and new techniques are used to bring contemporary products to market.
I enjoy working with Paya because they provide local artists and communities with the opportunity to earn income working in their villages. Paya’s products have been customized for well-known clients and hotels across Thailand. But at the heart, they are a small business that sees value in preserving traditional craft skills.
Kurated Style’s collaboration with Paya is very organic, with a collection of one-of-a-kind pillows, throws, and new product ideas based on our mutual respect for handmade, quality home goods that remain timeless from San Francisco to Bangkok.
